Hello All,

I have checked the FAQ, and have decided to do the DIY subwoofer install (I have a powered Bazooka 8"), and I understand the instructions, but...

How have those of you out there who have performed this install routed the power wire to the battery? What route did you use through the firewall, the interior (or exterior) of the car? Exactly what moldings, carpeting or interior pieces did you go under.

If you wish to help through my e-mail to save bandwith here please feel free...

Thanks!!!

Michael

I ran my 12v power from the battery through an extra grommet in the ECU box, down the 'tunnel' under the ECU into the interior of the car. I used a piece of piano wire as a snake to pull the wire out of the side where the fuse box is. While looking in the ECU box, have someone shine a flashlight into the fusebox - you can see where the wire should go. I didn't have to remove any panels except the fuse cover. Once the wire was inside, I just tucked it along the driver's side trim, under the back seat, and into the trunk. I covered the wire that was exposed in the engine compartment with a piece of black 'split' tubing to conceal/protect it.

I found the easiest route to be through the passenger side of the firewall, where the A/C fittings pass through. There is plenty of extra room, and the 4 gauge wire I was working with fed right through with no fishing. Then, once through, I used a nail to puncture the grommet, and pushed the wire back through toward the engine compartment. The whole job took less than 10 minutes, and surprisingly, was one of the easiest cars I've done.
