the car which increases in frequency and duration when there is more weight
my A4. I had files in the trunk and three people in the car yesterday
and the noise was almost constant. My car is a 99.5 1.8TQM (no sport
suspension) with the 7 spoke OEM sport wheels and 225/50 Dunlop SP8000s.
I plan on upgrading the suspension but will not do so until after the problem is
fixed. My dealer has looked at it once quickly and did not know what was
causing the noise. Unfortunately, they are so busy that I can't get a loaner
until November, so they can't look at it any earlier. By the way, the dealer
does not believe the 225s are the cause. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks, Sands

I was rotating the tires last weekend and it sure looks like the bushings on the anti-roll bar are wearing. The remaining bushings appear as if they should deflect under load, and not move, but the bar does appear to rotate normally in this bushing. So I'm wondering if it is this bushing you are hearing move.

My symptoms are groaning and squeaking when making right turns into driveways as well as getting out of car. Carlsen (in Palo Alto) has had four or five tries to fix it and failed every time. Last time they replaced some bushings (I don't remember which ones) that they claimed were not working properly.
