Does anyone have any experience in doing a complete re-paint of an A4? I bought a used A4 and love everything but the color (the dark green). I want to paint it either the autumn red or the europa blue of that model year. More trouble than worth?
Thanks, Al T.

I work for FinishMaster, the largest distributor of automotive paint in the US. Today's aftermarket paint is very high quality, especially the BASF Glasurit line that is used by, and endorsed by, Audi. I would have no concerns about the quality of the paint should you choose to paint your car.
HOWEVER, should you choose to repaint, you are in for a tremendous hassle. Even the most skilled painter will leave occasional overspray marks on your trim. Hard to get to areas like inside the door jambs, under the hood, inside the trunk, etc. will never be completely covered. Additionally, the cost of the paint, labor, etc. will be (IMO) prohibitively expensive.
You would be better off selling your car and investing the repaint dollars into a car of the color you like. Additionally, a re-sprayed car will lose resale value.
Bottom line is I would recommend against it, though I'd love to sell you the paint!
