determining source.

Okay. I got both the inner and outer CV boots done on both axles two weeks ago. The passenger side inner CV boot was not attached tightly enough and it came off at one corner (slinging grease all over the damn place). Had a mother of a time getting the correct-sized clamp on their, but finally found a band-style clamp to put on there and it seemed to do the trick.

Now, after all, as I am driving at "slow" speeds, I am hearing a "bmp," or "clunk." Real soft, not hard. So, I figured maybe the boot came off all the way and the rubber is spinning around and making the clunk sound. Looked and I can see the CV boot is holding fast.

So, what else makes these sounds. It sounds like something soft hitting something else, but I am not sure. Could it be my control arms, or what?

Make sure the head of the clamp you put on isn't hitting something.

in profile than the original one-time clamp. Thanks for the idea, though.

I have seen many people try hose clamps on cv boots . Doesn't work well.

instead find a banding-type clamp at NAPA. You need a special little tool to tighten up the band and then you just fold it over. Easy enough...just waiting to see if it holds.
