View Full Version : Doesn't Audi warranty cover break fluid change or "fuel injection cleaning service"?

My wife just took the car to the dealer for a CEL and a 50K service. The car is still under warranty.

She came back saying that we will be responsible for the payment of these two items:

1) Replace break fluid: $120

2) Fuel injection cleaning service: $150 (Can you believe that they actually put $149.99 on the estimate? When will this 1 cent trick end already?)

My questions are:

1) They claimed that these items are covered by Audi, but only once during the warranty period. Do you know otherwise?

2) The maintenance booklet is with the car, so I can't check. Is there such a thing listed as "fuel injection cleaning service" for the 50K service? (Actually they may have claimed that that item wasn't done during the 40K service; and that they may be doing it, altough late.)

3) Are Audi dealers so much better than independent shops to charge $120 for a break fluid? Please don't bother with this question; I know the answer already: My TT has never seen any Audi dealer after the warranty ended; not even for an oil change!

As always, thank you very much for all the help his forum provides! :)

If you complain that you are getting poor mileage.. and that it feels like your injectors are dirty. Then if you are under 50K, they will address it as part of the warranty. This may mean cleaning or replacing or nothing as its 'normal'

The scheduled maint. is listed in your book and cleaning of the injectors is not part of it nor is replacing the BF unless there is a warrantable reason to do so.

Dealers us items like: Fuel Injection Cleaning and Brake Fluid Replacement as profit centers and income producers.

I think that if your Audi Tech was getting a larger part of the $100/hour rate thhat Audi charges.. they would then be as good as an indy shop.

Nevermind. Sounds like you already told them to pack sand. You don't pay a red cent for anything while under warranty. Go buy a bottle of techron if you think your injectors need cleaning.

check in your owner's manual. You should get 2 changes under 4/50 warranty.
