Are the 7 spoke wheels custom tailored for the sport suspension, i.e.lighter weight, different offset, etc? My 9918tqms is in and I was considering swapping to 5 spokes, but the 7 spokes sure seem to make the car look leaner sitting there all polished up!, and I don't want to upset the handling characteristics. Do the 7's offer superior performance, or is it just a cosmetic differentiator?

I've heard that the 7 spoke wheels are slightly lighter than the 5 spoke, but I don't have any verification of that. I own both, and it does look like the 7 spoke could be lighter based on the thickness of the spokes. (I can't really weigh them to compare, because they have different tires mounted). If this is true, there would be some theoretical handling benefits due to lower unsprung weight. Other than that, the wheels are identical in size and offset. The real-world difference is probably near zero.<p>Maybe Gary@Ronal knows the answer to this, on the tire, wheel forum?
