I recently swapped out the stock (non-Bose)head unit in my '99 A4 1.8T for a new Sony ES CD head unit. Of course, I had to install a euro-antenna adapter (Scosche). Now, my reception is pretty bad. I've checked the connection and it appears to be making good contact. Does anyone know if the A4 has an antenna booster that I may have disconected? Any other solutions?

my radio, so I didn't have to cut and butt. I think you need to get take the power antenna output of your Sony deck and run it to the antenna lead of the Audi wiring harness. Did you use the wiring harness adapter too, or just the Antenna input adapter?
Cheers,
Mark
I've got the CDX-C880 and the antenna adapter (yes the OEM antenna is powered in the 99.5) and I have no problems.

I didn't use a harness because I couldn't find one at the time. I hardwired the basics, but not for the power antenna remote lead, as my A4 has the antenna mounted in the rear glass. After experiencing poor tuner performance, I began to wonder if there was an inline antenna amplifier that was no longer receiving power. Did you use an aftermarket harness adapter? and if so, did the schematic indicate which terminal in the stock harness the power antenna remote lead connected to?

I dont remember which terminal powered the antenna. It didn't come with a diagram; only the wires protruding from the adapter were labeled - and now they're buried in my dash. You might be able to call Scosche tech services for help; or you could just buy the adapter (it was only $15) and make it easy on yourself. Short of that, you might have to resort to using a multimeter to test which unused lead gets power whenever the radio is on and grab that.
Good Luck,
Mark
