Who makes these things (Audi AG?) and how are the acquired? I can't believe every tuning house that wants the decals custom fabricates them, that seems awfully silly.
Cameron
View Full Version : Huge Touring Car Rings Decal... Cameron 11-06-1998, 09:01 PM Who makes these things (Audi AG?) and how are the acquired? I can't believe every tuning house that wants the decals custom fabricates them, that seems awfully silly.
Cameron
Chris 11-07-1998, 06:31 AM I inquired about having them made locally at a decaling shop near my house (they do race cars). They said that if i had a picture that they could make and apply them for ~300 bucks. If i had teh exact dimensions i could have them simply printed out for ~100 for both sides. Check around your area and see if there is a shop like this, it would be alot cheaper. Example, for those tiny rings on Ronal's A4 i was qoted 10 dollars for 1 set of them
Chris tomw 11-07-1998, 03:36 PM Having worked copius hours at a sign shop I might have some insight here. The vinyl substrate used
in the computer aided cutters comes in 14", 30", and (I think) 58" widths. Since the biggger cutters are big bucks few sign shops buy cutters over 30".
I too have been thinking about the TC rings. I plan to scale the 1/10th Tamiya RC car decal sheet. Plot a paper set at work then check them for fit. The plotters are driven just like a regular plotter, so I can bring the file to the sign shop. I would laugh at them if they wanted over 50$ a side to do such a simple job. Application is easy, if you are careful (email me if you want tips). In conclusion, use high quality
vinyl like 3M, it will last 10 years if treated well. |
