My dealer called me to inform me that the new phone systems from "X point" forward are not compatible with On*star and TFN no On*star will be offered.
I have become quite the fan of On*star's virtual advisor and will miss this feature. Moreover, both BMW and Mercedes have their telematics offerings, it seems odd that, once again, Audi's "electronics" are being relegated to second class status.
Audi finally gets a proper sat nav system yet just can't seem to muster the integration that other's have.
My 03 allroad still, to this day, has "mystery" door locks -- sometimes they're automatic, sometimes not. The 03 BMW that is in the parking lot and belongs to one of the staff here worked on day one and has never stopped.
There is, also, still -- sometimes -- a situation where the only way to make the phone work (hands free) is to "reboot" the thing (which means turn the car off, wait a minute and restart it).
None of these things deters me from suggesting to others that they consider Audis -- but for Pete's sake, it seems that the Audi family is always getting the old and busted electronics.
Honda's sat nav has been DVD for what 2 or 3 years? Audi seems, to make an analogy, stuck in DOS mode while the rest of the world is on Windows XP Pro.
There, I feel better.
