Went today for the 10,000 miles maintenance at Rockville Porsche/Audi. The service consultant was extremely curteous, didn't forget anything and had overall a nice change from the usual service attitude.

Got an older 100CS as a loaner, really a beater car with a bad previous owner, but was still holding up well at over 100K miles.

What I went in for:
- 10k maintenance as per manual
- change the oil to Mobil 1 10W-50 (my oil)
- verify mirror noise TSB and fix
- asked about the tie rod TSB
- fix squeaky fuel door
- soft click when pushing the clutch pedal (at the top)
- tire rotation

What was done:
- 10k maintenance
- changed the oil, did not overfill
- verified mirror noise, ordered the gasket. Will install at a later date. No problems when I showed them the TSB printout. They actually kept it for their records.
- they know about the tie rod TSB, waiting for Audi to send notifications to customers and parts to dealers.
- fixed squeaky fuel door
- checked out the soft click, turns out to be the cruise control disengage switch (not a problem apparently). No big deal, I'll accept this for now.
- Found new problem, cracked headlights! All by themselves, all under warranty, apparently they've seen this before and it's a material fault. They're not cracked all the way through, more like a fine spidery web of cracks, like when you bend a piece of plastic and it "crinckles". They ordered the part(s) and will let me know when it arrives.
- tires were rotated for around $17
- car was washed outside and cleaned inside

Overall, a very positive experience. Polite, everything done, new things discovered and taken care of, loaner...

Who knows, maybe Audi service is getting better after all :).

If you check the archives, in the past week or so, Audi released news of a recall, for changing the tie-rods on A4, A6 and A8 (and Passats of course). But only on certain models, certain years. They'll mail you a letter if your car is involved.
