Well, Todd at AWE was shocked at the overall appearance of the install -- he said it was one of the worst he has seen. Problems found:

1. vacuum line to left turbo loose -- they fixed it but the problem still persists.
2. all cooling lines to and from the turbos are leaking. Cooling lines at the turbos and oil lines at the oil pan which has a lot of sealant around the connections indicating that the mechanic screwed something up and they just jury rigged it.
3. rear seal on the trans is now leaking.
4. Heat shield near the right turbo is not attached properly. Could be hanging up the wastegate arm causing the wastegate to malfunction.

AWE did not even dyno it. They went through the warm up and my ar started acting up. The actual boost was spiking off the charts. They burnt a stock chip and tried to install it but the pins on the board and the connections on the chip were not the same. Literally trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Left turbo wastegate is functioning mechanically but they could not get at the other one due my Tip (was in the way). They tried looking with an endoscope but could only see a limited area and were not able to physically check the function of the wastegate.

Todd thinks that my problem is mechanical, as opposed to software, based on what he saw during the warmup on the dyno. But he is not totally ruling out software as he said that an incorrect program could produce unexpected results, as what I am experiencing.

I am going to try and get Bob at Strat to burn a stock chip and send it for me to test, just to rule out software 100%.

Will also be going back to the dealer one more time to have them correct install problems. Not willing to pay twice for something that should have be done right the first time. Once this is complete, they will not see me anymore.

Pending when I can get appointments, I will post results for everyone.

You've paid your dues (through money and time) and soon will have the perfect ar. Just a little more patience.

I think you will be much better off in the long run just getting a good tuner shop to fix the problems. If the dealer did that bad of a job on the first install, I doubt they will ever get it right. I learned the hard way with my prior allroad that poor dealer work can really mess up a good car. I fear that you will only be making many trips back and forth to get the same mistakes fixed over and over again and in the long run will still have go to an independent to get the car the way you want it. In my experience, AWE is a bit pricey, but they do excellent work and stand behind it.

Some of us were amazed, and perhaps a bit jealous of the arrangement you struck to have dealer do labor under warranty while providing the K04 parts. In the end I guess it wasn't that great of a deal.

Its a shame you didn't get AWE to just do the work. They clearly have the experience and pride in workmanship to do it right.

Good luck back at the dealer. Leave all firearms behind. You don't want to be tempted.

down there. there are 2 (#5?) allen head screws holding the heat shield on along with a big hose clamp at the bottom around exhaust pipe. the heat shield you could fix yourself easy with an allen wrench that goes on a 3/8 rachet(along with some extensions, have a couple of them if you want to borrow 1) i still haven't got my software upgrade that bob told us was waiting back at shop (at
waterfest)and was going to get it out to me when they got back by wednesday(remember) emailed him last wednesday to remind him and he said he was getting it out. still haven't received it, maybe they strapped it to a donkey who got lost and that is why i haven't got it yet. : )

I want to try the dealer one last time -- really do not want to pay twice for something that should have been done right the first time. Have a final appt next Thurs.

I emailed Bob Sunday and he responded next day. Markus is on vacation and should be back by now. He will be creating a stock chip for me to put to rest any possible software issues. Then I will be going back to AWE to have them work on the car to fix the problem once and for all if it is not software.

to get it out of my system -- have a real nasty temper. No sense in ending up in jail over this type of problem. But I will be quite insistant about getting this done. As you can see, I can also be patient, sometimes to my own detriment.

It would have been a great deal had everything gone smoothly. Oh well...8^) I will get this problem solved and continue onto the next phase, $$$ permiting.

Also have a couple of small self mods I am planning in the mean time. One being venting the front well covers for keeping the heat down in the engine compartment and reworking the lower grills to match the one from Kamei with the possibility of relocating the fog lights to allow better air flow to the intercoolers.

they go on vacation for the whole month of august. i think a lot of europe does that. i would see if you can get software that utilizes the 5 bar fpr since bob said his allroad is using it.(if you can make more horsepower with it of course at top end)

XM stopped down while I was at AWE last week. I was showing him the rebadge work on the front grill and discussing the mod's to the lower grill. That was when he showed me that he removed his fog lights. Saw a lot of breathing room for the intercoolers -- thus the idea of moving the fog lights and possibly replacing with something else.

Have always be toying with the venting idea ever since he posted what he did. The S4 well covers do not cost that much. Something that I should be able to do but will need to get a pop rivet gun and maybe a little expertise from XM.

so the road systems does not grind to a complete halt. Even the different states in Germany stagger vacation time, which is generally based on when the kids get out of school, ie Aug.

But one would think that Bob would know when Markus gets back (I hope...8^\)
