I want to load large things and have an unobstructed space from the tailgate to the front row seat-backs. Is this impossible? Don't remember reading this in manual.

if so, you remove it by first folding down both rear seat backs. Then slide the piece to the side...I can't remember if you slide to drivers or passengers side. May take a swift tug to free it up.

It actually attaches to just the passengers side seat back but you have to fold down the other seat as well.
