Here is my problem. I am really interested in Rally Car driving and have a line on a UR
quattro, I also have on order the 00 S4, (Imola Yellow) I know this is the S4 forum and
pretty sure what everyone's response will be, but here is my question. I currently own a
96 A4 Quattro. Either I trade in the A4 and get the S4 and forget the fun of Rally Car
Driving, or keep the A4 and get the UR Quattro and then start my Rally Car Driving
career!! I know that the S4 and the Ur quattro would be heaven(well actually a TT in the
mix as well would be) but I aint made of money. So if anybody could give some good
reasons/insite for each, would be a big help!!
Thanks
PS posted this as well on the S4 Forum, be neat to see the response differences.

Rallying doesn't just involve the startup costs of the car and necessary modifications (roll cage, etc.), and trailer and something to tow your car with. Plan on spending money on training, unless you are already an experienced rally driver. Also, remember maintenance will not be cheap, things will be breaking regularly, so even if you're doing the work yourself you're looking at significant parts expenditures. To say nothing of the inevitable body damage.

Basically, unless you have plenty of money to throw at this hobby, I would strongly suggest you go with the S4 and if want some thrills, autocross it and go to every track event you can. For more information, try posting in the race forum, there are folks there with extensive racing backgrounds who can give you a better idea of what would be involved in setting up and campaigning a rally car.

get the Ur Quattro. That will be for fun. But if you are still paying for the A4, then ditch the idea of the UrQ and get the S4. The UrQ will eat up $$ by itself, let alone rallying.
