While my sales experience wasn't bad, I've had better (all sales people are different though). Service has been pretty good; they usually get you in a day or two after you call for an appointment. Also, they've installed aftermarket parts on my A4 for me and have never given me any grief. I've heard good things about service at Prestige in Denver and sales at Stammler in Boulder. Hopefully others will post about these dealers.

I purchased my 99.5 A4 1.8QM. from McDonald, sales experience was mediocre... and service has been less than energetic, but they had the combination I wanted. Be prepared to haggle. I really Liked Stammler sales, but they didn't have the combination I wanted. I have heard from others that Stammler is the most responsive and upfront on sales and service. Phil Long never returned calls and faxes, too busy I suppose. Prestige seemed uninterested at first, and then a couple of weeks to late called and sent letters.

We test drove a number of cars with Stammler in Boulder (where we live) and were ready to buy a car. Although the salesman (Rod) and the sales manager were pretty nice guys, they treated us like morons when it came to negotiating. $1,300 off MSRP for a 99.5 when '00 are around the corner? We offered @ $1,300 over invoice (3%) out the door on a Saturday and they let us go.

I called around to a number of dealers in the state. McDonald had the best selection and dropped their price quickly. We ended up getting a silver/opal greay 2.8QM with leather, sunroof, sport wheel, computer, all weather and Bose for @ $500 over invoice. We dealt with Robert Byrd and Steve Powers (the sales manager), both of whom were pleasant, knowlegable and honest. Really a pretty pleasant experience. I had McDonald put a clear bra on a few days later and the service was excellent. Don't have any other experience yet in that regard. For convience I will probably service the car at Stammler.

I'm not sure what the deal was with Stammler. I think there is a lot of complacency up in Boulder and they can probably get what they ask for the most part. They did call back a few days later and offer the car for close to what I originally had offered to pay, but by then it was too late. Too bad for them!

Anyway, my recomendation would be to give McDonald a shot. I think they move more Audis then anyone else in the region and are therefore more willing to deal. I'm not affiliated with them. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

McDonlald VW/Audi is one of the best dealers to by a car from period. For one, they always give me a '99 Audi A6 to drive when I leave my car for its scheduled maintenance service (no other problems), AND they even pulled some strings (not supposed to say anything though) to get me a rental Audi without paying anything, while my A4 was in the shop for a month 1/2 from hit-n-run accident. I'm 22 and it's illegal to rent cars to drivers under 25. They gave me one anyway (Don't say anything)!

I've bought cars at both McDonald ( formerly Continental ) and Prestige. DO NOT buy from Stammler. They have very little and their salespeople are generally clueless and annoying.

Prestige and McDonald are close, but they cater to different crowds and thus have a different appearence when you walk in the door. Prestige sells Audi/Porsche so they are confident that they will have what you want or will get it for you....some people think this is rude....I don't. McDonald on the other hand is huge, with VW/Audi/Volvo/Mazda. They are just trying to sell cars period, and most sales people there are new at the game. They tend to use "closers" there which I really hate, but that's just the way they do things. Both have pretty decsent service departments, but I think Prestige's is better.

If you go to Prestige, ask for Paul Hanson or Donna Prince, just two of the more knowledgable and experience there.

Starting this week, if you go to McDonald, ask for Ken Kanazu, he used to have a sweet Avant QMS and now drives a S4 that he got two weeks ago at McDonald.

These are just my impressions, hope this helps,
Rick

They beat the pricing from Stammler. I did not try and other dealers in Denver. No hassles - they agreed to a set percentage over dealers invoice.

Prestige is a good location, but the main thing which turned me off is their service department.

Their service department constantly cancels appointments moving the dates up, making up excuses and act like they don't even want to be there. Their not friendly and they don't greet you unless you stand directly in front of them.

On the sales side of Prestige, Hans is very knowledgable about Audi's inside and out (but I didn't care too much about Audi's history when I came in to test drive the S4!).

I agree that McDonald is becoming more of a "sell-all" kind of dealer, and it seems you have to know exactly what you want for them to work with you a little more.

perhaps not covered by their insurance, but I don't believe that there is any law against it.

A4 is Volcanic Black... Bose & CD, Winter, Sunroof, Sport Steering Wheel.... Color and Manual were the challenge.
