JimmyJames 01-05-2002, 09:14 AM In the morning when first taking the car out, it seems very sluggish in the cold, is this normal? mpm 01-05-2002, 09:37 AM This is especially important with the 2.7T engine. Good rule of thumb, stay off (keep under 4K) the loud pedal until oil temp is above 175. cyjack 01-05-2002, 11:00 AM The engine also seems to be less recalcitrant upon cold start after the first 1,000 miles. QQQQuattro 01-05-2002, 06:09 PM They put 10w40 in mine for the 5k maintenance (the dealer's "stock" oil) and it was extremely sluggish when cold. When I decided to foot the bill for synthetic at 10k, the difference was phenomenal. I'll never go back to dino for the sake of my turbos...this engine seems to love synthetic. I've read various posts about waiting until the 10-15k mark before switching to synthetic, but supposedly if comes that way from the factory? But if that's true, why the sluggishness?? And why do we need to wait until 10-15k if it came that way in the first place?? Questions, questions... mpm 01-05-2002, 07:11 PM Synthetic verse deno, 0-30 vs. 5-40, how often between changes, why can't Audi give a staight answer...after all is said and done, I run Mobil 1 0-30, or 40 if I can find it. Thin is in when it comes to these tiny turbos... rudytoot160 01-06-2002, 04:21 AM New 01 owner. Have read all the info on conventional versus mobil 1 and the different weights. What can be said about Castrol Syntec? rudytoot160 01-06-2002, 09:54 AM Read it all about cahnge intervals, conventional versus Mobil 1, but what about Castrol Syntec? mpm 01-07-2002, 06:01 PM |
