This, of course, depends on where you live and how you like to drive. My experience, limited to a couple of days in the Colorado mountains earlier this month, convinced me that my predisposition to get snows was correct. (See also the blizzard comment in a newer thread above.)

Given the power and handling of the ar (not to mention what you may be used to in the TT), you'll find that the stock tires will break loose fairly easily on snow/slush/ice-covered roads, even on straight & level. (At least my P6s did.)

There are lots of previous threads about what kind of snows, wheel sizes, etc. HPH

There has been a lot of talk on this forum about tires, my two cents - I have the stock goodyears and they were great in the snow last season, no problems at all. My buddy has the Pirelli's and ditto for performance with his.

In colorado dry snow the goodyears worked fine mos tof the time. Not as good as a true winter tire but well enough.

If your area gets wet snow/slush with refreeze I'd look into winter tires.

If only light or occasional snow/yuck then the stock tires should be ok.

i live just in the foothills. the first week of september we got 6 inches of snow. all excited i hopped in and drove down the hill to the safeway to see how it would do. it was slick. i felt it giving out a few times on some of the corners. i have the pirellis. i just got the asimitricos, i wanted something that didnt have a huge sidewall on it so i could still drive in fair comfort without snow (we got the blizzaks for my wifes a4 on 15 inch rims, it is a tank in the snow. i fear it will be better than the allroads, but on the highway with no snow it is sloppy) not to mention they are 92 bucks each tire rack rules!
plus Big O tires will mount and balance and install them for 9 bucks a tire (not bad).

...I was told by both Goodyear and Pireli dealers that the stock allroad tires are superior for wet weather and not very good for snow. OTOH, I had no problem in the snow last winter with the stock rubber here in Connecticut.
