After looking at the number of times posts are read either the few people here reread the posts over and over again, or there are a lot of people lurking at the edges. Pipe up and introduce yourselves. My 2001 allroad is black with Ecru interior and everything but 6spd and nav. Chipped ECU and Tip, smoked a Porche on the turnpike from 80 to 130 like he was standing still. Got some Bridgestone SO 3 Pole Postions on the way.

After such an exciting day or evening driving my wonderful brilliant black allroad with most of the bells and whistles it seems like such an effort to raise my hands and plunk out all those keys in order to make coherent sentences that will inform, dazzle, or delight other people looking at this forum.
Actually, other than some posts with mechanical issues, I enjoy reading but not necessarily commenting on posts with pleasant personal experiences with the car. Your experience with your Porsche is thoroughly plausible and brings a smile to my faceand a feeling of contentment that my near $50K purchase (w/tax and license) was well worth it.
Keep writing and we'll keep reading...........we're out there.......
Sincerely,

and what is your experience with it? Have you changed the diverter valves?

I too am curious as to what chip you used. Put a MTM in mine. Seems a bit subtle until you launch it. Took me two days to wipe the grin off of my face. Now I'm looking at the exhaust and wheels. Will probably go with MTM for the exhaust, though a bit pricey.
Was also looking at S03s but am not confident of what aftermarket wheels will fit. As near as I can tell, the offset on the allroad is 25 and there doesn't seem to be much wiggle room behind the wheel.
Spend a lot of time on the A6 board. Good dialogue, banter and info over there. Hopefully this board will liven up as there become more owners.
Got a black tip without nav and warm weather.

Just got my Allroad a few days ago and already I'm trying to get rid of the DBW delay. Did the remapped ECU "fix" this on top of the performance improvement ?
Thanks,

Well I have GIAC for both. The Delay is programed into the trans but the chip did help considerably. I found that the more I tried to compensate for the del;ay the worse it became. It senses how fast not how far you hit the pedal.
And it has now faded to the point where the only problem is when you bolt then stop then try to go again. Car does absolutely NOTHING, no engine noise, no movement, nothing for 2-3 seconds so be careful. If your gonna go, GO, dont change your mind, cause you will sit there.

Some tool in a Suburban thought they were more important than everyone else and basically ran the stop sign. I got in and out and the in again on the throttle and the car absolutely didn't want to go. I eventually just mashed the pedal and Herman tore outta there. There needs to be some adjustments made to compensate for this. I would prefer more of a straight linear input.
Just my opinion but I think that the drive by wire delay is caused by the ESP to make sure that the car remains in control. The same DBW delay was felt very prominently in a Volvo T5 with the 'W' button pushed. Its the wet weather traction control feature. It really delayed the launch of the car even if you burried the pedal. I think that Audi did the same thing permamently on the allroad. Sounds like the ECU needs to be re-programmed to be less sensitive. I'm going to try some experiments this weekend and turn ESP off and see how the delay is. I'll let ya'll know.

Allroad ? I have a GIAC ECU in my S4 and it totally transforms the car. Would you call it a faster Allroad or a totally different car ?

I am looking at the MTM chip for my 6sp allroad.
Could you tell me more about your experience? gas
mileage with the chip, did you get an extra ecu?..., was it easy to install?
Thanks.

Got the car chipped at 1,000 miles. MTM says a HP gain of 32, lower than what some of the others are advertising. Although my dealer installed it, I talked to the folks at Hoppen before doing so. Apparently there are different procedures for installing on a vehicle with a 6-speed and a tip. I have a tip. The sense that I got was that if I had a 6-speed I could have done it myself. I highly recommend talking to them extensively before deciding which way to go. They are more than willing to chat. I did get an extra ECU, since my dealer installed it and should be more inclined to work with me if any warranty issues arise. Also, it may be prudent to switch back to the original when I go to sell or trade, or at least give the buyer the option. However, it is not something you can do on the side of the road.
The engine feels stronger across the board. Kick in the turbo, hold on, and try to wipe the grin off of your face, though there is still a lag. Being my first turbo, I do not know what is acceptable and what is poor design by Audi as some have suggested. (There truly is no replacement for raw power.)
My gas mileage has been a major dissapointment from day one. Never got over 15 mpg from a tank for the first 1k. 80% city, 20% highway. Just stop and go, no traffic jams. Lots of hills, though. Haven't really jumped on it, especially during break in. However, it seems to be improving. I suspect it is due to the engine breaking in and adapting to my driving style.
The downside is that I am now addicted. Am looking at exhaust, tip chip, wheels and brake mods.

Thank you for your advice. It seems the lag you describe is more due to the tiptronic it was
talked about quite a bit in this forum and there
is a GIAC tip chip that sounds good. I don't notice much lag with my 6 sp it really pick up right away.

Still canot adjust. Find myself reaching for the clutch with my left foot when in tip mode.
