I just ordered a silver allroad, yee-haw!. I need to carry 2-4 sea kayaks. 50" bars won't cut it. Anybody have 58"s or even bars cut down to 56" or 54"? Curious how many head banging/eye poking incidents you've had and how it detracts from the lines of the car.
Also any ideas on passing time till delivery?(3-4 months:( besides staring at allroad pictures, searching out magazine articles, and reading all your miscellaneous ramblings. BTW, Did anyone come up with a copy of the Speedvision allroad show?
Cheers!
Steve.

Steve,
As far as passing time, did you look into modifying an exsisting order that the dealer already has on order? That's what I did, and I was able to get a Jan. build date, which means I'll be joy riding end of Feb. I hope. Much quicker than placing a new order, and I was able to equip it exactly as I wanted and he made the change that day.
I have never hit my head nor have any of my passengers. You can find the pictures in an earlier post on luggage boxes.

I just ordered the allroad - when I get it I'll be using #415 Railing Foots and 58" bars (thanks to WBK for confirming no problem with the length). I expect they'll fit fine and are easy to put on/take off.
Don't know if you're interested but I regularly carry up to 4 sea kayaks with Thule H2Go's and Kayak Stacker. I'm looking forward to loading the boats with the allroad on the "low" setting. No more shoulder strains!

I am actually getting an A4 Avant. (I can't swing the Allroad, but I have driven one and it is super sweet.) I ordered the 751 and a bike attachment for now. I will get saddles for the kayak and something for snowboard/skis later. My parents put 4 kayaks on their GC with those kayak stackers. I don't see carrying that many on the A4.
I was going to design a really slick hitch for the A4, since the only one that is available sucks. It sounds like you Allroad guys are hurting for a hitch too. If you guys really want one, I can look into making one for the Allroad as well. It would be completely hidden and really trick - no cutting or drilling.
