View Full Version : how did your allroads handle the snow we just got in the northeast? f3d 12-30-2000, 08:50 PM JGallroad 12-31-2000, 04:58 AM I took my allroad for it's first real snow ride yesterday. We got around 12" here in Bucks County, PA yesterday. I mounted up my old Thule racks; which fit perfectly on the allroad rails; and loaded up the cross country skis. The development had still not been plowed when I took off. The allroad moved through the snow without hesitation. The main roads were plowed and salted. The car handled just as well on those. I found the stock Pirelli's to be no problem in the snow. One thing I did notice is, because of the wide track on the allroad, there were large rooster tails of snow and slush eminatiting from the sides and rear of the car. A lot of this ended up on the sides of my previosly clean car. Does anyone know if Audi has any kind of a mud flap available for the allraod yet. It would really help keep the road crap off the side of the car. In any case the car handled great. The cross country skiing was also great yesterday. It was so beautiful in the woods with the freshly fallen snow! I can't wait to go again today! Mark Jacobs 12-31-2000, 01:47 PM The car handled beautifully -- the best I ever drove in the snow! We got a total of 14" here in Fairield County CT and each time I went out to drive there were a few fresh inches of snow. I negotiated the turns and hills beautifully and came to safe smooth stops with the ALBs doing their thing. I'm still unhappy, however, with the windshield wipers and the streaking from poor distribution of the fluid from the jets. ChronicTeutonic 01-04-2001, 07:12 AM |
