View Full Version : Any pediatricians in the house? Nvr2Fst 02-25-2009, 09:25 AM JasonS4+Festicle 02-25-2009, 11:31 AM Nvr2Fst 02-26-2009, 09:17 AM Our daughter Ashley is 22 months old. My wife has noticed every once in awhile that she will kind of zone out. wont respond to her name or our voices.. Ashley is normally always talking to us or herself, or singing or just being a goof. The few times she has done it to me I thought she was playing a game but my wife and I experienced it in the car the other night were she wouldnt respond to anything for a good minute. I couldnt see her face because her back was facing us, we were in the front seats. When we brought her in monday for a unrelated doctors appointment for her ear aches my wife mentioned it to the doctor and she said it might be whats called "silent seizures" and as a precaution we are having an MRI monday and EEG just to make sure shes ok... To put it mildley, I am worried and FREAKING out about this. Just wanted another opinion and thoughts on it. The Doctors will need to sedate her for the MRI and thats one more thing I am terrified of.. I am hoping it is nothing and I know any questions I have will be answered b4 the MRI but wanted to see if I could get any info before I bring her in. I really appreciate any info Kevin JasonS4+Festicle 02-26-2009, 10:55 AM absence seizures. Typically benign but often requiring medication for a bit. The MRI is being done just to be safe. The liklihood of finding something anatomic is almost nothing - but, we always look. Make sure the MRI is being done somewhere that has experience sedating 22 mo old people. After the EEG, you will know a lot more. If it shows seizure activity, you guys will see a Pediatric Neurologist and go from there. If she is developmentally normal now, this should merely be a bump in the road for her and with treatment (if this is seizure), she should be just fine. Don't stress AT ALL about the MRI sedation just MAKE SURE you are going to a place that sedates kids often - if not, then demand it be done somewhere that has experience in this. You can e-mail me directly if you have other questions. zeems 02-26-2009, 06:03 PM Nvr2Fst 02-27-2009, 04:01 AM i will definetly be in touch by e-mail if I have any questions, thank you again... and yes, she is perfectly healthy, a little under weight for her age and size and a some ear aches, but other then that we have been blessed... She is awesome :-) Nvr2Fst 02-27-2009, 04:02 AM |
