the trailer I have now is really old and not really worth the cost to update. Looking for an aluminum open trailer with electric brakes. Any help would really help me out. New or used. Thanks.

know the name. Sorry. I also can't comment on whether they are cheap. But they do have quite a few on display.

even with a custom winch if you so desire, extra storage areas, tire racks, extended ramps for srsly low cars, etc. They are in Indiana but have a dealer in Chicagoland west burbs that can custom build one for you to be picked up at the factory or delivered. They also have a fancy trailer configurator on their website. Sorry forgot the contact info but you can prolly get that at their website as well. Pricing is very reasonable too considering they are lightweight aluminum trailers that you don't need to use a behemoth to tow your car to events. This is the route I'll probably go if I end up getting a dedicated track car next season.

a used trailer would be perfect with the discounted price.

the new trailer has sufficient width between the fenders to clear your fenders.

I've got an email into my sister.... They are tied into all the PCA folks out east.

Oh- try Rennlist too.

I doubt it is that much wider that it wouldn't fit. Isn't that why they make the fenders removable? So you can fit wider cars on and off? Thanks for all your help Ed!
Oh, everyone else too :-)

removable fenders are so you can open the car doors.

Car trailers are usually either 8' (96") or 8.5 (102") wide at the widest point. 96 is legal in all states. 102 is legal in almost all states though some consider it extra wide and require a permit. Everyone I know with a trailer is 102 and noone has ever been stopped for it.

lengths run 14, 16, 18 feet in length. Longer= heavier. But you have to determine if the trailer has a "beaver tail"... that turned down back of the trailer. Generally it's 2' long. Facilitates getting a low car onto a trailer but you don't want to use that portion of the trailer for the wheels to ride on because it will sllightly imbalance the trailer. So an 18" trailer with a 2" beaver tail is really a 16" usable deck. 14" trailers are rare and generally only used bu Miata or 914 people. 16" is probably the most common.

And keep in mind thatour cars are front heavy so that will require moving the car further aft on the trailer to balance the load properly. As compared to a 911. You want about 7.5 - 10% of total towed weight on the tongue. So if you're pulling 4000 lbs, you'll want to end up with about 300-400 Lbs on the tongue. Less than that and you'll have a lot of trailer sway. Much more than that and you'll overload the car and hitch. My fear with the factory hitch is not the total weight but the tongue weight.

Be sure you get a trailer with either a beaver tail, or ramps long enough to be able to get your car on without scraping the front end. Beauty of the allroad is that with the trailer hitched up, you can raise the suspension to L4 which effectively raises the tongue of the trailer up and the rear down for less steep ramps.

Happy hunting

Call and ask for Jeff Shenk - X 103. Phone # is on web site. Tell him I sent you Steve.

ATC builds the lightest and best quality trailers and offer great trade in values.

They also sell uses trailers.

Otherwise as Luke said, drive to Elkhart. ATC (Aluminum Trailer Company) is in Napanee, IN, about 20 min South of Elkhart.

you tried RA Adams Trailers in McHenry?

They are HUGE and have tons of alu flat beds in stock.

Largest trailer dealer in the midwest and they have tons of uses trailers as well.

I called the place and they have a good amount of them in stock in Indiana. They are brand new and retail for $3,695. Seems like a good price for what you get.<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;rd=1&amp;item=170046004371&amp;ssPa geName=STRK:MEWA:IT&amp;ih=007">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;rd=1&amp;item=170046004371&amp;ssPa geName=ST

tell him you are a friend of mine. I've spent stupid money with them and we are friends. He's one of the owners and tell him the price you see online, that you'd like to beat it and you'll pick up in Elkhart.

He can likely beet that price.

Awesome trailer!

Don't wait, get it! It won't last long!

better. Make sure to tell Jeff you are a friend of mine. Helps me and will help you.

ATC is the Maybach of trailers (you get my point). Lightest, strongest, best quaility.

That trailer will hold it's value very well.

The traile deck/surface of that trailer is extruded! Can you say STRONG?

be easier to manage behind the allroad. 22' overall length is 6' longer than the allroad.

And get them to move the license plate to the side, not the back. You'll loose that off there the first time you back into your driveway.

But at 1000 lb, sounds like a great way to go.

you ARE going to put a big trans cooler on the tip aren't you?

any limitations to the 16 vehicle wise? I would like to add a front deflector and tire rack.

not have enough tie down length.

The rule with trailers is buy the biggest one you can, as even it wont be big enough.

can float on it's suspension. Then of course that required extra D-rings to be welded in to the deck as well. But then again, I was pulling a 2600 lb 911 which is shorter. (Wish I had that trailer today... steel deck but custom made for my 911, including a removable tire rack and socketed removable tongue so it would fit in the garage. Torflex axles with 4 wheel disc brakes. Beauty of steel- was only $2500 new whereas a comparable aluminum would have way over $5000 at the time... and pulling with a Chevy truck with turbodiesel I wasn't concerned about saving 600 lbs.)

Just trying to save Steve's poor allroad some some towing burden.

you still want to use it for a model?
