The stg 3 S4 guys have been planning a drag day sometime in Nov and would like to extend the invitation to anyone else who would like to join us. Should be good time to see how you and your car do in the 1/4. No matter what it should be entertaining watching me try to launch my car (no skills).

This isn't a who's is bigger, or a competition but just some good fun and one last time to break something on your car before the end of the season.

Depending on how many people are interested maybe would could get the Chicago chapter of the Audi club involved or try to organize something with the track.

Please respond and let us know what you think!<ul><li><a href="http://www.greatlakesdragaway.com/index.php?page=schedule">http://www.greatlakesdragaway.com/index.php?page=schedule</a</li></ul>

I don't believe our insurance co allows drag events. This came up before and there seemed to be a ton of reason why we shouldn't or couldn't. Regardless, have fun.

450 HP on the Vespa should be fun.

Thanks for letting me know though. Think you'll want to come out for a few runs Marco? Should be a good time.

Haha, bring her out with some 100 and she how she does. Would be nice to see how an off the shelf AWE kit does with the HB/ASP cars.

with and easy launch or no launch at all. I think trap speed is a much better indicator of a cars performance than the 1/4 time. Some guys really beat the piss out of there cars trying to get those extra few 10ths even though the trap speed never goes up. I'm hoping to trap 120 but we'll see.

how is trap speed defined? what does one need to do? talk to the rookie...

Also, when you shift, 7k or 7.5K? Your wheel/tire size combo plays a role too. Your time or trap speed is not solely representative of car's power, though it does give you a general idea.

Remember I've been to the drag strip once so I'm just as big a rookie as you are. Trap speed is the speed the car is traveling when it finishes the quarter mile. Like in my sig for example my best run was a 12.4 (time) at 118.5 mph. The 60 foot time denotes a good or bad "launch". For our cars a great launch is 1.6 seconds or lower (notice i had a 1.9, which is bad), and the timer starts timing once the car leaves the line NOT when the light goes green so no worries on your reaction time.

There is other stuff you'll need to know once you get there like staging, etc but that can all be explained at the strip. If anyone else wants to chime in with something i didn't think of please do!

I was speaking in terms that pertain to our specific cars (stg 3 b5 S4's) where all the cars I know except one have the same gearing, etc. Also, djillusion's 19's should not have a major impact on his trap speed, if any.

you'll get a general idea what car can do.

tires chirp, car takes off. Works like a charm! Not recommended for stock clutches. :)

Either I don't rev enough and bog the car or I rev too much and spin all four tires. Suppose I could get better with practice but it's very hard on the car, especially if it's making decent power. Couldn't agree more on doing it with a stock clutch.

I really am not interested in driving or watching anything this side of Pro Stock. After going to the Nationals a few times and watching Top Fuel and Funny Car classes, everything else is just meh. I'm sure it would be fun to see how good I am, but on a good day my car might be in the 14s. And I can't afford a new clutch or any other repair bills. Tim charges me $500 just for rolling past Continental and I am not even going to tell you how much I spent at Al's last month. AWD and drag racing can lead to financial disaster. So, I don't think I'll be going. Maybe next year I'll pick up a new Mustang or something for a daily driver and I'll join you.
