Just picked up brand new 99.5 A4 2.8QMS yesterday.. I love the car... But there is some vibrartion in the steering wheel while sitting at stop lights and such. Is this normal? Will this go away as the engine breaks in??
Thanks.

Neither my previous or current 2.8 had/has the sport package, but I can't imagine how that would make a difference with the problem you are experiencing. Doesn't sound right to me.

when the engine is cold and the idle is slightly higher there is an odd spot around 900 rpms at idle that can send a slight vibration through the steering wheel. it always goes away when the engine warms up a little and idle is a 100 or so rpms lower

the vibration happens close to 1200 RPMs when the engine is cold. Once it's warmed up and down near 700 RPMs it's very smooth.

My car appears to idle (when started, and when at stop lights) around 600 RPM.. That seems a little low to me.. I thought it should be up more around 800 rpms at idle.. which I believe would remedy the slight vibration I'm receiving through the wheel.
Btw.. I don't think that the sport package has anything to do with it.. If anything, my car is simply not idling properly.

I haven't noticed any vibrations. Do notice sone dead spots in iengine at about 2000 and 3000 RPM, though, and at idle lose power steering boost to a degree when cranking wheel hard & fast.
