Can any of you suggest a Chicago area shop that might be able to do the following. I am looking into getting the Dension IceLink Plus iPod adaptor which will replace my glove box CD changer. What i would like someone to do is rig a switch so that i can select between the two sources and not have to give up the CD changer.

Any suggestions?

I have a prototype that a friend just made, when all the bugs are worked out, we will have them available for sale.

that will allow to keep both connected. If you don't own the IceLink already I would wait for the new device.

http://www.dension.com/icelinkgateway400.php</a

Do you mean the DICE product or is it something else?

Any idea how long we are talking?

it's courteous to change it. it's efficient to reply in the title and if it requires more text, fill in the message. therefore, someone scanning can read the title and decide whether they need to move on or read further.

really, that's all we ask...

granted, Im not an audiophile so my source of parts if typically El Shacko del Radio.

I bought an RCA switch... it has stereo RCA inputs and an A/B toggle. It kinda sucks as the size is too large but honestly it does the job. I also had to add a Ground Loop Isolator to weed out some floor noise. Otherwise, in the end, I have my iPod and my XM wired into this switch which then runs to my CD changer.

I don't think you'll be able to unplug the CD changer plug so I guess this might work for you only if your CD changer interfaces through RCA plugs.

If that's the case, kill the changer. Once you have the iPod, no reason to have a changer in my opinion.

You didn't mention what car you have. But if it's a newer one, then you don't need a switch. One is already built into the XM head unit. It has an input... Basically you run your ipod feed to the XM radio in the trunk, then use the CDC button on the head to change sources.

There is much about this in the audio forum. Look for ipod and Xm with search.

Thanks for that. I have a B7 and I don't have XM, it would be awesome if this works.

I searched in there but the posts seemed to deal with keeping XM and iPod more than using the XM input for iPod input. I have Nav+ as well in case that makes a difference.

What would that involve as far as installation? Is that something I might be able to do myself. How much do you estimate the cost would be?

Thanks
