View Full Version : MINUS 4 degrees???!!!???? Yougottabeekidding!!! Hooray for garages and heated seats. That is all. ZCD2.7T 12-07-2005, 06:26 AM gription 12-07-2005, 06:35 AM I only had the thermostat in the garage set at 55... WindyCityS4 12-07-2005, 06:48 AM please note the correct there, they're, their. I know you like that. ZCD2.7T 12-07-2005, 06:52 AM gription 12-07-2005, 07:08 AM It's all about personal comfort. In my teens, 20's and 30's, I lusted after a heated garage after shivering my arse off working on a car with a crappy space heater trying to keep me warm. When we built a new garage, it was simple enough to run a gas line and hook-up a unit heater. The first season we had it, it added about $15 a month to the gas bill since the garage is well insulated. Even if natural gas doubles, it's still worth a buck a day to get into a warm car in the morning. allroad'Ed now 12-07-2005, 07:51 AM They were quite surprised when their buns started to warm up. Just one more sweet allroad feature- heated seats front and rear, and heated wheel. no.radar 12-07-2005, 07:57 AM "Is it just me, or does Ed make you feel hot?" ZCD2.7T 12-07-2005, 08:00 AM allroad'Ed now 12-07-2005, 08:42 AM Steve_Ag Arrow 12-07-2005, 08:44 AM 520 12-07-2005, 08:50 AM CvTech 12-07-2005, 08:55 AM allroad'Ed now 12-07-2005, 09:05 AM CvTech 12-07-2005, 09:07 AM although wiper fluid itself will not freeze but I guess some frost and stuff can get in there. allroad'Ed now 12-07-2005, 09:22 AM which I could find that piece today. Was a rubber encased coil that went inline with the upper radiator hose, and all washer fluid ran through it, heating it up. so you always had hot washer fluid for the windshield. But that was 1978. No longer available. CvTech 12-07-2005, 09:25 AM I bet I can make one! That sounds tempting. allroad'Ed now 12-07-2005, 09:31 AM Just get a short piece of pipe the same diam as the ID of the rad hose. Wrap it with several dozen wraps of copper tubing, and extend the washer lines. In all seriousness, it worked fantastic. Lived in NH at the time, and was able to clear any road grime, slush and ice off the windshield even at 80 in heavy snow. 520 12-07-2005, 01:12 PM not just seat back and base. leslie 12-07-2005, 07:47 PM I'm not kidding, I've been trying not too laugh, esp. when I know how cold it's been in Chicago. :P gregmag 12-07-2005, 09:26 PM Can you make a few stops for me: Tillamook Cheese plant Blue Heron Cheese plant Elk Cove Vineyards Hood River Vineyards (say hi to Bernie and Ann) Oh yeah and WIDMER!!!! I'm so jealous! gregmag 12-07-2005, 09:27 PM He played a clip of a street reporter in Santa Clarita CA (30 miles N. of downtown LA) talking about it being "Bundle up with hats and gloves' weather. The temp in the lower right of the screen showed 52 deg F! leslie 12-07-2005, 11:01 PM Pretty funny, but it's their one chance a year to say that! ;-) leslie 12-07-2005, 11:02 PM I'm at about 36hrs straight right now from an all-nighter. :( will be lucky to see a few friends or do some x-mas shopping. but we've already hit Widmer twice, heh. ;-) Their hef is my favorite beer in the World, yum! :) You have fine taste. ;-) And it tastes so good at the brewery. Have you been finding it in the Midwest? It's being distributed, by *gasp* A-B out of NH I believe. But, glad it's available in some form though. :) I'm a native, and I'll admit I've never heard of Blue Heron cheese before...(?). gregmag 12-08-2005, 09:10 PM WHEN were they gonna get to the Chicago area. Every year it was "we have a distribution deal with Anheuser Busch for your region, keep checking". Well Jax and I finally found a store - in Holland MI that had it. This past summer, we were farting around on their website and I said, "let's see if they're here yet" and lo and behold, the distribution map showed "ya hah!" for Illinois. After a few calls to the 3 distributors in Chicago, I was told that Palmers in LaGrange had it on tap (hence the GTG in July I think it was). Then I died and went to heaven when I saw it in package form at Sams Wine in Lombard! BTW Blue Heron is just down the road from Tillamook, and the Gasthaus is wunnerful! We just loved the brats w/ garlic mashed potatos & chugging the Hef! leslie 12-09-2005, 12:00 AM but when i do i like to do it right. ;-) we were at a berlin brew fest (second only to Oktoberfest) w/ crafts and major breweries from the world all packed into several miles. tons of incredible beers, i could drink a lot of, but we still didn't find one we liked quite as much as widmer hef... it almost looks like orange juice when poured, and must be served w/a lemon. it's important that it is fresh... but is simply divine from the tap, especially at the Gasthaus. :) leslie 12-09-2005, 12:04 AM Yeah, the first time I actually found it, was at the Wal-Mart in South Haven, Michigan. :P I almost dropped to the floor, was quite an odd place to find it! Then I proceeded to clean them out. Which we generally do every time we visit GingerMan. :P (Not sure how many of the locals drink it, so we figure we need to keep their supply coming! I think the locals taste might run more towards Coors Light...) ;-) I'm partial to the chicken schnitzel and potato pancakes (or wild salmon w/ potato pancakes) when dining at the Gasthaus... :) gregmag 12-09-2005, 02:39 PM It's simply a perfect German beer, but made here. It's a little thicker and sweeter than Paulaner or Hacker-Pschorr, and again, w/ a lemon slice just rocks! As Bill said, a great summer beer (particularly after a softball game), but to be enjoyed all year around. Oh yeah, and did I say, it's from Portland! gregmag 12-09-2005, 02:40 PM leslie 12-10-2005, 02:11 AM leslie 12-10-2005, 02:14 AM |
