View Full Version : Anyone Huskie owners on here? That's a natural instinct for them to make an indentation in the "snow" before laying down to sleep. siberian 12-05-2005, 08:41 AM

siberian 12-05-2005, 09:04 AM WindyCityS4 12-05-2005, 10:08 AM Nvr2Fst 12-05-2005, 10:41 AM people who own them....I can see that I will be taking care of her for the most part, need all the info I can gather Nvr2Fst 12-05-2005, 10:54 AM the fiancee went out and picked up an 8 week old puppy yesterday...Now I have to be the adult in the matter and figure out the correct way to raise it, train it, etc....most importantly she has a 35 pound terrier mix and a cat...I know the cat will be a problem when the huskie gets older, but I hope that since she is a pup now she will bond with the terrier and not want to hurt it once the huskie gets bigger and older...any thoughts? siberian 12-05-2005, 11:25 AM First of all, speaking from personal experience, I had a very similar situation when I got my huskie. I already had a fully mature collie, and the huskie came into the house as a 7 week old pup. From day one they got along fine. Granted, both of those breeds are very friendly towards humans and other dogs. If you raise it from puppy stage with another dog, I'd be more worried about the dog you already have starting trouble with the huskie, and not the other way around. I've heard that some terriers can be real a$$holes when it comes to getting along with other dogs. Just be aware that huskies are a LOT of work. They can be very stubborn and hard to train, so it takes a lot more persistance and patience to get them to settle down and behave. They are high-energy animals and need an outlet for that. So keep him/her busy with lots of space to run, and lots of toys to chew on. If you want more info, email me at mlindsay@ckdusa.com Oh, as far as the cat is concerned, I don't know what to tell you about that. Kapoosh1 12-05-2005, 03:55 PM and basically always outside. It only wanted to come in the really hot summer days. They love activity too. Nvr2Fst 12-06-2005, 04:48 AM little jealous but I think she likes the company of another dog around...I have been reading up on the breed for months now and realize what a handful they can be..I liken the breed to raising a child...not that I have done that either, but it seems like a person has to have that level of commitment to properly raise a huskie...thanks again! Nvr2Fst 12-06-2005, 04:50 AM but you can tell how that went over...... :-) Nvr2Fst 12-06-2005, 04:56 AM to watch...she enjoys my socks, seems like only when my toes are in them...doesnt want any of her toys we bought her...just my toes... |
