Hi,
Just talked to a new S4 owner today and congratulated him on his new car. Then his wife tells me that my car looked like a Golf! I like Golfs, but I guess she didn't realize that this remark was insulting! They also called my car "slammed!" Yuck. Man, that was bad, after all the work done on my car.

I mean, its at least simple courtesy, you complement his S4,....nice car after all. but at least they should extend the courtesy of saying nothing about your car if they don't like it. Saying it looks like a Golf and is slammed is not nice. It may be ignorance,..but that is still no excuse...oh well. here it goes.

YOUR CAR IS NICE...I LOVE IT....

I think the Avant looks nothing like a Golf and what the h*ll does she mean by "slammed"
You have a nice car. I'd rather drive your car than any Golf any day!

Remember, it is the driver knowing the car, not the badge on the front..............

how do you like your Oettinger wheels and how much did you pay...lastly any pictures. I'm seriously looking at the RE's since they remind me of the Hamann Monoblocks...but require no drilling as they fit the Audi perfectly.

she's got absolutely no idea! Quattro GMBH chose the Avant specifically for its mean aggressive styling - and also for its originality.

Oettinger REs were about $450 per wheel. Yes, they remind me a lot of the Hamanns, that's why I got them. Also, they come in 17 inch, as I thought 18s were a bit too extreme for the local roads. Todd at AWE has 18 inch Hamanns on his A4 and they look great. That's what inspired me to find a similar bolt-on wheel. Also, the 18" Hamanns are close to $800 per wheel.

I don't have a digital cam, so pictures will be forthcoming once I have them developed and get my scanner up and running. I have a SCSI scanner that I got for free, but I have to locate the drivers and am afraid that this thing will screw up my finely tuned, running Windows machine. The last thing I want is a registry crash.

The H&R coilovers drop the car 1.75 inches. The great thing about this setup is that it does not rub, even with this much of a drop. However, the springs are so stiff that the car hops over big stutter bumps, which can be a bit disconcerting. It soaks up cobblestones like they weren't there, with a bit of thumping.

The 225/45R17 Yokohama AVS Sports give it a really aggressive stance as well. I drove it in some nice twisties last night and man, does it corner! The character of the car is completely transformed- it corners completely flat now and the tires just stick. You have to do something stupid, like late apex or take too tight of a line for the tires to even make any noise.

I'd love an RS4 as well. For the truly hardcore, you can always build one of your own. It just takes a lot of money- 1.8 Avant (for cost reasons), get an S4 tranny, S4 motor, K04s, custom chip and exhaust, 380hp no problem. :-)

Please don't tell me you people are so out of touch that you didn't know "slammed" is a compliment for a cool looking lowered car-which a coil-overed, 17" tired Avant certainly is!

"I have to admit to being an A4 fan. I absolutely adore our 1.8T sedan, and was happy to hear it was replaced by a wagon version, for I am also a fan of sport wagons. I don't know why, [del], but if I were to buy an A4, it most definitely would be an Avant quattro."

"The A4 Avant is, in my opinion, proof that you don't need an SUV, to have sport in a utility vehicle."

This weeks Autoweek also makes reference to the rising popularity of wagons.

I'm afraid your lady friend doesn't realize you are a trend setter.
