I don't own and A4 and my total time behind the wheel of one is about 30 mintues, if that. I have more experiece with the A6 than I do the A4. Please tell me how I compared that 2.7T A6 to the A4. If anything, I compared it more to the S4 and the TT I just reviewed.

I thought Matt's article on the A6 2.7T was very good, and the fact that a4.org covers most audi models now I think gives him the right to "mention" the a4 in the article. Especially since they share a platform and many driveline and subsystem components. I bet you think the Passat shouldn't be compared to the A4 or A6 either. I don't even think anybody was drawing comparisons, and besides that, why not? Who cares?

The only way I compared the A6 2.7T and the S4 is by performance numbers. This is the only paragraph where I compared the A6 2.7T to the S4:

"Once you look under the hood things get more interesting. The 2.7T A6 shares the same 2.7 liter 250 hp bi-turbo V6 that is found in the Audi S4. The 6-speed transmission and brake system are also the same and the exhaust system is similar as well. Official performance numbers are 0-60 in 6.0 seconds and 14.7 seconds for the quarter mile - only slightly slower than the S4. "

At the end of my review I mention that this car would be a good option for the S4 buyer looking for more interior room. That's not really a comparison, just my opinion.

If I have the facts wrong about my own review, please tell me how I compared the A6 to the A4 other than what I've already mentioned.

My point is that people expect the S6/A6 to be as quick and handle as well as the S4/A4, thats not the case. Everywhere you read, the opening statements is "gee I just finished testing a TT or S4 and now I'm in a A6 and its a boat". Just look at the specification and one can figure that out.

Would you rather have had me just say I didn't like it and not explain why?

The fact is, I loved that A6. I liked it more than the TT.

In an effort to not throw flames and to back Matt I wanted to say first that this is an "A4" site, and it doesn't preclude anybody (even BMW oweners, god forbid) to partake in discussions or whatever. All are welcome, but most of us are A4 owners. I have never driven an A6 so I wouldn't have a clue what it was like. But if I read something that compares the car to an A4 I get a much better understanding of what the car may be like. I think he was writing for an audience like me, who has never driven an A6.

And to add, Matt and Co. have added S4, A6, S6,etc. etc. forums, information, yada, yada to help people. Give 'em a break.

Matt did a nice write up and this site kick @ss!

Perhaps what you mean to say is that you wish people wouldn't expect the A6 to perform like an xx (pick TT, A4, S4). Yet, it is the natural question, especially if you are considering both: how different is it? How important is the difference, once you get used to it?

Matt addressed these questions to a good degree without getting into the excessive comparing that you seem to complain about.
