I am new to the board obviously. I am looking to purchase a used Audi. Anything I should use for. I am very budget minded... but mod'n in the futre would be acceptable.

Well, look to spend about $23k for a good 2-4yr old A4 1.8t (lots of mods available).

A bit more for a younger one, a bit less for an older one.

If you want to "trick it to the max" you can plunk down another $18k-30k. (sub 12 sec rocket that is phat looking)
