I have had a great love for Audi's since I was quite young. I am looking to make my 1st purchase but thought I should get advice from the "experts" or atleast people familiar w/ them. I have a $13,000 budget. I am considering like a 98 Audi A4 Quattro. Would this be a good buy? It seems I could get one at this price w/ approx 60K miles. Please leave any advice that would help me. I really appriciate it all!

I believe there are two 98 A4's (98 and 98.5), I had an older one (traded in for my TT), and parts were a bit more expensive and some "98" parts are incompatible...
Also, I believe the pre-98.5 A4's had more problems in the past. (Although I never had any problems with mine). Check the A4 Forum and search for discussions on 98 vs 98.5 A4's, I'm sure there's some useful info out there...
I believe you can check the VIN on Audi's site and see if it's a 98 or 98.5 model year.
For an A4 98Q, 13K seems like a good price. A quick search on cars.com shows 98 A4 1.8 Q's asking just under 15K, a 2.8 would probably go 1K higher...
Best wishes, you'll love it.

When I got mine last year, it was supposed to be 4.9. As we are signing papers, the guy prints it up at 5.9. It was late and we (for reasons I don't know) didn't question it. Both salesmen told us it was 4.9 and now the finance guy says its 5.9. In retrospect, we should have threatened to walk, but I guess the new car excitement got to us. Never Again!
