Just a word of warning to
A4/S4 owners: i'm here too but chicago sucks ass.

Someone jacked my headlight (the whole unit) and bounced while still in the process of stealing the other side.

ain't no thang i can do... except to cry while ordering a replacement... and waiting for them to come back and take the remaining one off the now- piece of **** captain Hook.

Gangbangers. Safer then dealing dope, especially if a juvenile. Brother in the 14th and sister-in-law in the 1st says it's been going on for about a year and a half. The punks can get tough and nasty too. At Old Orchard they got 5 cars in one nite and get this...one of the cars, the owner and his girlfriend
were held at gun point while the little ****s got the lamps. They got no fear! Be careful where you park and DON"T RESIST if they pull a strap on you! Better your lites then your ass. They are starting to hit the Western burbs hard, Xmas is going to be heaven for these *******s.

Just to get the ballasts, which are in the housings. Nice clean design when you think about it - until you factor in the USA ghetto factor (chance of theft).

yea, yanked out with a pry bar, and it turns out the one that wasn't stolen has the seal broken and rendered useless from the attempt to steal it.
just got an estimate of $2092.74 from the dealership for the missing igniter, halog bulb, bulb, screw, and the 2 headlamps to be replaced...plus the labor.

I seriously agree and don't think i need to spend $2000 to replace xenon headlights.
i bought the 2001.5 B5 1-piece valeo xenon (clear corner) to have the dealership install it, but supposedly, the little ****s also took the screws ,"igniter" and other ****s also... then my question is what the hell is an igniter and why does the total just for the parts come out to be $1,892.84??
Dunno know much about headlights but the service advisor at the dealership must think i'm retarded. Her smile disappeared so fast when i asked a question about her estimate...shieeeeeet... good warm feelin inside

you better new ones for less then 500.. the only problem could be the auto level motor if your car has one which i think it does (guys with a new car chime in w? info??). I'm sure you can find a used set but they wont be cheap... could be around 100 a piece but i have no idea. I'm sure one of us chitown guys would help you figure out what you need. you should be able to install the prjectors and do a halogen set up till you get all the xenon parts sorted. that way you can @ least drive @ night and think about if you really want to spend the $ to replace the xenon set up. email me our just post on the chitown yahoo group and we'll help you figure it out. the group info is in my sig. where do you live again??

Are you gonna claim it on insurance?

Get the insurance check on the stealership estimate, and pocket the surplus

It says will ship to Europe only, but I'm sure if you bid on them you can get the guy to ship them to the US. You can just use the parts from this set to do yours.

Never seen the S4 lights, but I'm sure you could do it. I'd be happy to help. Did it on my car.

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1781451996</a

oh that sounds good, but the insurance co supposedly will contact the estimate-giver to confirm the work. And when the stealership realizes I never went to them, i figured (with my luck) i will get screwed one way or another.
Besides, my deductible is not that low.
somebody shoot me

What's your deductible?

And how would you get screwed - your ins co has to pay you the replacement value no matter what. Get the highest estimate you can get, get paid, then source the stuff yourself. Why would your dealer care?

Like Panzerwagen states, this is just starting
to get popular with the street gangs and can only get worse. The insurance companies are gonna have a field day with this problem. You can live in the city and the burbs, you are still going to be a possible victim or worse if they use a gun on you to get them.
