How many of you are recent vintage Audi owners (A4, A6 etc)?
I've had a '99 and now drive an '01. We've had over a dozen Audis in the family since '71.
How many of you have ever discussed your cars with owners of the other type?
All of the time. I like old cars a lot. I don't like working on old cars. I don't have the time, space, or desire to keep an oldie running right. I've BTDT, and I won't do that again for a long time. I've had more than my share of watching my car drive away on a flat bed. Owning a new car is easier for me.
How many of you could care less for the older vintage Audis?
Sorry, but I never really liked Audis until the A4 came out. I liked the tank-like qualities of M-B, the ride of Peugeot, and the sportiness of BMW. My dad had a '71 Audi and he's sold Audi's for years. They were nice, but I had no passionate interest in them. I have an appreciation for the URQ and S4/S6, but I can't afford a perfect one to drive on the weekends.
How many could care less for the newer ones?
The reason I drive an '01 is because I don't like the '02 as much. My tastes will change from time to time. Maybe I'd buy a 330 instead of an A4, or maybe I'll get a Mitsu Evo next. I don't know. These are just cars to me, they don't define who I am. I wanted the v1.0 A4 for 3 years before I got one. I never felt that way about the 80,90,100,200,coupe,etc. Also, I don't lust after a new body A4 either. The TT is the only current Audi that I really like and afford to buy.

**Good, I hope so. I don't think anyone (from the A4 crowd) here has talked smack or stated facts that they were unable or unwilling to back up. I don't think anyone talked smack about older cars or the people who drive them. I think it is sad that some people choose to act like children on a public forum. When did it become old -vs- new?**

lack of knowledge, which is to be expected.
I am all about people being into their cars, regardless of age, type, etc.
At the #2 or #3 autox with the CVO, I was totally shooting the **** with the owner of a supercharged Civic. I don't know much about civics, but I was interested as this guy was way into it, so we were able to share and learn.
The same hold true for the older audis, but the feeling would likely be stronger. Honestly though, the older audis are not NEARLY as prevelant at Local Audi events.

Audis?
It's amazing people still put up with the problems of the type 44 cars, but they are cheap and nice cars!
How many could care less for the newer ones?
I like the newer one, my next car will probably be a S8 or new A4, but not for at least 2.5 years.

#2 I own 2 Audis. An 88 5000S and a 86 5000tq.
#3 As often as I can! i like Audi's of all kinds...
#4 Love older Audi's...
#5 I like both. I'd prefer to see a urq over an A4 anyday. However I can appreciate all Audi's...
Here's a pic of my modded 86 5000 turbo quattro. It has about 250+ Hp. Mods include: UrS6 Eibachs, IA chip and spring, Boge TG struts, UrS6 windage tray, KX support bracket, K26 hybrid turbo, Schrick 272 cam, Samco hose/BOV kit, Stainless brake lines, A8 rims, torsen diff. transplant, 2 piece exhaust manifold, etc, etc...
It's a blast to drive :)
