View Full Version : What's with the frame on the left. It seems unnecessary and makes the forum space much smaller..

Hi guys, maybe a few words to explain the frame set.

This forum is in its early stages but the lrqc paraphrenalia is going to stay. The primary reason we set up the forum in this fashion is to help people keep up to date about the things going on in the Chicago/Milwaukee/Indiana area relating to Lakes Region Quattro Club.

This doesn't mean we wont welcome anyone regardless of being a member or not. We dont discriminate whether you have a early 80's Quattro or a brand spanking new one.

We welcome everyone to use this forum for social and technical topics and if peer groups want to get together the club is comfortable with that as well.

However, I personally feel if there is an "event" to be planned, it should be organised through the LRQC. The membership of the LRQC stretches far beyond the users of this forum and if something is only promoted here, the rest of the members may never hear about it.

If any of the other Board members want to express an opinion please do as this is all new to us.

The fact is, the "events" we plan aren't really that organized. I wouldn't even call them "events", as we don't make a big production of them. I consider them to be more in line with "hey...you all wanna hook up" type get-togethers. If someone wants to plan something, like lunch or this kart-racing outing, there is no pressure, no expectations.

I know many of you S4 members were worried about this sort of thing. Let me know your thoughts. Feel free to email me at forester@s4chicago.org
S4Chicago

Informal events...fine, who cares. This is where I'm at odds with Sean.
-Chicago Joe

Its great to see people crossing over into the club forum from the S4 group, but as this is the forum of the LRQC, there should be NO concerns regarding having our links to our site in our forum.

We are letting this forum run in any direction it tends to take right now to see just where it will end up.

It seems that the S4 group gets very defensive when "club" or "event" gets mentioned. Dont be alarmed. Im not saying that every lunch outing needs to be approved by the "club", far from it as a matter of fact. But why is it so bad to share info about a go-kart outing in Michigan with the whole club?

This could be very simple, someone plans it and just give us the details to possibly put on the opening page of the club website, we dont want to take over. Personally Im glad to see some of the members taking on responsibilities and planning things. Once again thanks to Joseph for coordinating the Target GP. Lots of people attended yet it would have been the last thing in the world we could have spent time on due to fact that we were very busy organizing the driving school at Blackhawk.
83 UrQuattro

I want to clear something up with this original question. I can understand how this statement could be interpreted several different ways. The meaning is not clear to me and may not be to some of the other readers either. Did you mean "just about everyone using this forum knows that it is intended for use by Lakes Region Quattro Club members and maybe that space could be utilized more effectively" or "I am looking to use this forum to communicate with a specific group of people and the Lakes Region stuff on the left is in the way" or did you mean something entirely different? Please help me understand what you were trying to say.

I won't offer any definition of "event" at this time but I would consider the go kart thing to be of similar status as the Target Grand Prix or the June Sprints. They all involve some other organization actually putting on the activity and all the participants need to do is make some phone calls to the organizers and get the word out to the "membership". With plans being made a month in advance, I personally would consider it an event. I also think of it as an "event" because the Lakes Region has discussed having a kart day at MRP since I bought my kart from MRP over two years ago, but it just never happened, mostly due to scheduling conflicts with other Quattro Club Driving Events.

P.S. What do you mean by "many of you were concerned about this sort of thing"?

Everyone is invited, especially LRQC members. The more real drivers we have out there the better.

I am limiting it to 20 people all together though. We don't want the track too congested. We have room for 4 more drivers.

Again, email me if you'd like to come.
