I doubt anyone remembers but the last thread I made I was asking questions about replacing the stock Concert II+... Well everything turned out okay installing a Kenwood DDX812. Used a SWI-CAN2 + SWI-JACK and that got me switched ignition power and steering wheel controls; illumination was easy enough to tap from the ESP button and I'm all smiles except one little detail.

I can't get the factory antenna working properly :( I used a Scosche VWA4B antenna adapter (or equivalent) and it has the metal barrel on it and the blue wire to trigger the antenna amp. I connected this wire to my HUs antenna lead properly.

However it seems like my antenna amp is not getting triggered because radio reception is terrible :(

The adapter has a notch on the FAKRA end which locks into the factory antenna connector but can only go into one side of this because of that. I was thinking to use the other antenna connection to see if that would work but I'd have to cut the notch off to do that.

I noticed that the blue wire is not showing continuity with either the centre conductor nor the sheild when the adapter is unplugged from the car. But when plugged in, it reads ground. My HU seems to be outputting only 11.6V on it's antenna wire (which I thought was odd) but I even tried connecting the blue wire from the adapter directly to +B, to no avail. If I touch the blue wire myself (making me the antenna I guess) reception gets much better, as does touching it to chassis ground. But this is just "extending" the wire as an antenna not actually using the factory antenna properly.

One other thing I might mention is that I unplugged the harness connector to the amp in the rear where the sub is, could that have anything to do with it? I thought the sub amp would only affect the rear speakers and sub and that the antenna amp would be separate but I dunno.

I rarely listen to the radio, but I'd like to get this working as it's pretty annoying.

Any thoughts?
