I'm looking around for a couple of sheepskin seatcovers for the front seats(sport). A couple of questions- do the front headrests come off? I tried for a couple of minutes last weekend without any luck. If they don't remove then I suspect seatcovers won't fit on. Also, has anyone used sheepskin covers? Will they shed more then my dogs do now? Will they damage the fabric if left on for an extended period? Thanks in advance-

I was told by the professional who measured my seats that due to the side airbags in the seats that he would not recommend it. He said that there was a way to stitch the sides so that the airbags could come out but he was unwilling to try without any way of properly testing it. Neither was I. So on hot, sticky days when I wear shorts, I sit on a towel (rather than the leather).

Best Jeff

The A4 headrests do come out of the seats, you just have to wiggle them when you get to the end of the shaft. On my 97 A4 1.8t I have them on the sport seats and my wife has them on her 99 Passat with the seat airbags. For the Passat, the sheepskins have a flap held on with velcro where the airbags come out. Would not be a problem if the airbags were to be deployed. The sheepskins do not shed and are actually quite comfortable and cool in the summer. The main problem is that the design of the seats changes through the model years. You have to be sure that the pattern is correct for your car. I had mine stiched up to duplicate the exact factory seams in the sport seats, took Rocky Mountain Sheepskins in San Jose/Cupertino a few tries until they got it right and I was satisfied.
