View Full Version : Is my clutch slipping?

Fellow a4'ers,

I just noticed that while cruising on the highway at +/- 60MPH if I floor it(WOT), the RPM's jump about 400 RPM's and shortly thereafter, the speedo climbs as well. This seems to me that the clutch is not grabbing properly (slippage). Does anyone else experience this or should I bring my Avant back to the shop again?

TIA, (not someones aunt in Spanish/Portuguese)

go up with it - you are in for a new clutch.

I experienced it on an other car, you can not miss it. Forget the speedo, just floor it and feel it.

1st to 2nd. You're trying to get a lot of momentum moving by applying lots of torque - that's when the clutch will slip. It's MUCH less likely to slip while curising on the highway with smaller changes in speed.

Hey Peter, are you meeting up with Jenner, Jeff F and I to drive up together to the BBQ event? We're leaving from Hartford going up 91 and over on Rt2
