hey all,
ive tried disconnecting the battery, disconnecting the ecu and still no avail. is there any other way to reset the fault rom codes (i think thats the term) besides taking her to the dealership?

You could find someone with a VAG tool or laptop with VAG tool emulator software and appropriate connector. But in most cases you'd be better off taking it in and having the service folks take care of it for you...that IS their job.

If you can't find someone with a VAG tool or notebook with the software and connector, you may be SOL. From what I've heard some codes are automatically reset by the computer after the car has been started 50 times without the problem reoccuring. I don't know which ones though.

I believe there are two software packages for laptops. I'm not sure of the names or who makes them though (sorry). Chack the archives, I originally heard about this here a year or two ago. I've actually seen one in action, not up close though, I was in the middle of something and didn't get to ooh and aah over it. Also, I believe this is what Garrett uses to customize chips as you drive once installed, not sure on that though.
