Kudos to all those who offred their advice and encouragement in these trying times. With the center speaker out, the soundstage sounds much cleaner now. :)

The key to removing the center speaker grille without prying and possibly damaging your dash is to enlist a second set of hands.

1. Person 1 pushes towards the hood and up in the recess where the photo sensor sits... using your thumb. This is enough to make the whole grille pull up slightly.

2. Person 2 (preferably someone with smaller hands) grabs the grille edge and pulls upward. This should be enough to pop the clips and the grille will come up on the one side.

3. Then just move along and pull it up bit by bit until both sides are up.

4. Lift up and the clips towards the hood should pop quite easy.

And here is a pic of the underside of the grille to show where the clips should anybody wonder in the future. I put the center speaker to good use to prop the grille up... much more useful now than it was in the car.
