'06 non-nav, non-bose getting line out from the stock HU -

I unplugged the 'top' harness and put the one I got in. It just plugged into the Line out (right side looking down at it from the front) and it worked great! BUT I did lose the steering wheel controls... I know this is because of the CAN wires in the middle section. I also lost the ability for the HU to turn off when the car turns off... There are only two CAN wires so can I just run those back into the stock harness?

I guess my question would be: Is that all thats needed? Do I need to run anything from the CD side to the stock harness?

This is the harness I have except mine has two extra speaker level connectors (what they are for I don't know)

" I purchased the blue and green pieces of the replacement from my local Audi dealer. Their part numbers are 4A0-972-643-A and 4A0-972-643-B. They each ran about $9.00. "

Just move the two CAN wires to the new green connector and plug everything back in. When you pick up the blue and green plugs, ask one of the dealer's techs if you can borrow his mini-ISO pin removal tool. That way you can swap the wires in seconds.

Just one of those things that you will end up needing another day! I only found the weatherpack pin removers, not the mini-ISO

Thanks!

...all bent and one set came back broken. It got expensive to be "nice" to other enthusiasts.....so now I don't lend them out anymore. :(
