Hi everyone. I am still running my stock non bose system in my 02 A4. Symphony II head unit. My front left speaker is cutting in and out randomly. When I scanned the audio system with my VAG tool it came up with this:

1 Fault Found:
00878 - Connection to Speaker Front Left
36-10 - Open Circuit - Intermittent

Jus wondering if a blown speaker would cause this? or is it more likely a wiring problem? Loose connector or something like that? The car is new to me so I don't know if the door panel has been off or if the radio has ever been removed. I just want to know where to begin looking.

If the speaker is blown, any recommendations on what to replace the fronts with? Something that will sound decent running off the Symphony as I don't plan to put amps etc into the car, also something that will fit without much drama.

I think the dealer pulled the speaker connections and shot them with contact cleaner. seemed to work.
