I want to fully upgrade my system including head unit, speakers and subs. Everywhere i go, i get conflicting opinions on whether i am able to keep my stock nav. i also get conflicting opinions on how difficult the bose set up is to replace. i did a search but got more confused.
i'm contemplating on high end focals for the speakers and JL subs and alpine amps, someone suggested clean sweep if i don't change the headunit, is this necessary?
Thanks in advance.

The Audi NavPlus 16:9 head unit - called the RNS-E - is the one with the CD changer in the glove if OEM standard (not retrofit) and has two SD card slots behind the screen and a DVD-ROM/CD slot as well.
That HU has full-range, unprocessed, single-ended common-grounded preamp outs. What does that mean?
It means that with a $25-30 harness from Midwest Electronics, you can have RCA preouts that will work with any amplifier.
Any installer who uses a CleanSweep in an A4 is wasting $400 of your money.

I personally thing that most Focal speakers are overrated, that their tweeters are bright, and their xover points are too low (causing a dip in midrange response at the listener's ear).
Where are you geographically?
What's your system budget?
Alpine amps, Focal lower and midlevel comps, and JL subs are the Lexus of car stereo. They work fine, but their performance is not what you an get for the same money from other suppliers.
I strongly recommend DLS, Dynaudio, Morel, Zapco, Hertz, and audison. Genesis amps, Tru Technology amps, and even elemental designs amps and woofers are good too.
