I'm replacing the front speakers in my 99 A6 with the non-Bose audio system. I took my door off to measure my speakers (all 6.5" by the way) and I noticed the woofers seem to be connected by a special plug. Will I need a special harness/adapter in order to connect my woofers to a new component system (currently deciding between Boston Acoustics, Infinity, or Polk Audio)? This is the first major change to my car and I want to make sure I'm fully prepared when I do it.

I just bought speaker adaptors for my car, and they came with harness adaptors as well. I didn't need them so I threw them out. Too bad I didn't see your post yesterday -- I could have sent them to you before I took out the trash.

You don't need adaptors though. You can just snip the harnesses off the plug and connect the + and - wires to the speaker. You may want to crimp or solder on some quick connect plugs that slide onto the speaker tabs.

Enjoy,
