after putting about 15 gigs of music in the DMS (MP3's & WAV fles) and playing it in the car, it has no text other than "track 01,02, etc.". It also has no voice prompts other than the chick saying hi, etc. and the guy saying the current track is... only saying "the current track is" and then it just plays the song I was listening to. What I'm getting at is... Isn't it supposed to display the artist, album, track names? And say them also? What do I have to do. I have STFA's and also trolled the Phatnoise web-site to no avail! Also, when I tried to add "voice promts" It say.. "Speak Failed"? Please help. I love it, but I just thought it was supposed to show text and say all this stuff?? TIA! FYI: I have a B5 S4 w/ a Symphony. If that helps any.

....if you searched the forum, then you would've read about 1,000 posts where people ask about whether the phatbox will display text...and it will not.
See the links in my phatbox intall post via my sig.
Happy reading. Good luck!!

thought it was possible. I assumed (bad idea) it did, seeing I could rename files/tracks, etc. Thanks for the input, I appreciate t.

When I "save & eject" I get the same error. "Speak not working". I have tried over and over to no avail. Help?

You might want to contact PhatNoise customer service at www.phatnoise.com and describe your problem.

Hi;
It may be that you made the same "error" that I did, which was to install the latest Phatnoise Music Manager (v2.3) straight from a download file rather than off the distribution disk that came with the unit (v1.87, in my case).
I figured it was better to install only the latest version, but that was a mistake - there are some parts of the software (notably the AT&T text-to-speech voices) which are ONLY included on the v1.87 distribution disk. Installing v2.3 straight from the download file leaves you with no voices and hence no pre-track prompts - this is what happened to me. You can verify this condition by checking that there are no "AT&T" voices listed under "Hardware options" for the DMS cartridge. You may also find that the track announcement sound files (.WAV files) stored in the \TTS directory on PHTDAT contain silence.
For first-time installers, the correct way to proceed is to first install v1.87 off the CD, then install the v2.3 over it. You should then see the two standard AT&T voices in the DMS Hardware Options and - voila ! - like me, your voices should now be there.
If you have already installed v2.3, you can "downgrade" your installation to v1.87 by running the included install disk - in the proces adding the missing voices - and then re-upgrade to v2.3. This is what I did, and all settings and music are retained.
There is a rather obscure reference to this issue in the manual, BTW, but it's not very obvious.
Maybe this was your problem as well ? If so, hope this helps.
