Could not believe what I saw at toyota.com. The 2000 Avalon is incredibly resemblant of the A4, though most certainly the driving experience is nothing close. Just wondered if anyone else knew of this styling copycat.

...hmmm..

Yeah, some of the new Avalon's profiles look like the A4. The rear-end feels like combine Saab 9-5, Volvo S80, Audi A4 and BMW 3-series; very copycat style from the side rear. The rear end looks like Lexus GS-series. The front end looks like an Avalon, also its the only place really have old Avalon-ish. The overal side profile looks like an A4 with Ford's New Edge concept.
The alloy wheels look like they brought an 98-99.5 sports package 7-spokes from Clair parts express. Cadillac brought the Audi 5-spokes for Catera Sport, anyway.

Please see a dictionary for the word "resemblant." It is a nice word but it doesn't exist.

he's still on drugs tho :)
09-30-1999, 06:29 PM

It's not in the OED.
09-30-1999, 06:54 PM
If it is (and wouldn't you be great to provide the entry) it is archaic, colloquial, specific to a country (not the US). I think he made it up but you are welcome to prove that he didn't. I sold my OED because I needed the cash. Give me the secret code to access the OED on the internet!

And no he's not on drugs.

He's right about the roof in the rear, the trunk, rear body, and wheels. Toyota steals everyone's styling. It's what they do. It's not that surprising or difficult to see if you look at it.

Poor kid gets attacked for using a true word and

and making a true statement.
I stand corrected.

Are you saying
09-30-1999, 10:19 PM
you don't see the A4 in the picture of the Avalon? In spite of the flood of incredulouness (is that a word?), I do see it and he's right.

It would also be nice if Audi could imitate Toyota's reliability.
