Can I turn off motion sensor permanently.
It seems the wind blowing the Mcdonalds bags sets it off.

View Full Version : Alarm motion sensor 99 A4 PHOTO64 09-30-1999, 11:35 AM Can I turn off motion sensor permanently. It seems the wind blowing the Mcdonalds bags sets it off. bob 09-30-1999, 11:57 AM there should be a button located on the b pillar (where the seat belt is harnessed to) but down low a few inched above the carpet PHOTO64 09-30-1999, 12:05 PM I have found that you have to do that every time. I am hoping to disable it forever. Bob 09-30-1999, 12:06 PM Take apart the b pillar and put some black electrical tape over the sensor?? PHOTO64 09-30-1999, 12:23 PM I was so busy thinking of reprograming the computor I guess I didn't think of the easy way. Thanks. GaryJ 09-30-1999, 01:21 PM As in it registers changes in air pressure (like opening a door). I personally know that if you leave the sunroof open, the wind can set off the alarm. This couldn't happen if it was a motion sensor. Don't know what the effect of putting tape over the sensor would have. GaryJ mitro 09-30-1999, 07:39 PM Rodney 10-01-1999, 04:40 AM It's ultrasonic, as in it uses sound waves to detect movement through the window openings. I physical object must be fairly large to set it off (a hand won't do it, but try to pull your gym bag or breif case out, or stick your head in and BAM it goes off). Wind apparently either sets up some sore of harmonic that sets off the sensor or moves enough air around to trick it into thinking something is in there. Moving aournd inside the vehicle won't do a thing...only moving through the window openings. Regards, Rodney '99 A4 1.8tqms |
