I am obviously new to this, i have been reading around, but I am still confused by what i found in the archives.

I am looking upgrade my delta HU in my 98 a4 (the tape deck is killing me!!!). I am thinking about the alpine 9833, but it is quite pricey and i dont know if it is overkill and i would do better getting something a little cheaper. I would be adding probably a 10" sub in the future and that would probably be it. The reason i really like the 9833 over the other alpines is because it is black and the others are all silver and would not match the interior.

So I am looking for comments about the HU and any other things i would need to make this work in my car. I dont even know how i would take the HU i have now out.

Please help!!!

I have installed a Alpine 9833 in A4 2002 (B6). Its a great unit, the sound is far better the Concert headunit. Only minus is that Audi have not wired the ignition signal to the ISO contact, so for now i just switch it off manually when i turn the engine off. Could be different on your modell... Next up is to install Focal 6,5" in the front doors and a Dynabel DY 94 10" sub powered by a Dynabel 4 chan amp.

Where Audi use the CAN-BUS (for some bizarre reason) to tell the HU whether the ignition is on or not. You can wire in an ignition on feed fairly easily from the fusebox, Radio S-Kont fuse, 20 minute job.
