View Full Version : What's the difference between moonroof and sunroof? Or is there no diff? It may be the other way around though... Chris 09-30-1999, 09:47 AM The difference is that the Sunroof is the one that slides back. The moonroof on the other hand pops up. The A4 does both. So it has both a moonroof and sunroof. DaveL 09-30-1999, 10:19 AM Lazy student searching a4.org in class :> 09-30-1999, 10:46 AM anne 09-30-1999, 11:12 AM blurred over time so that people interchange the two words to mean the same thing. Since all are glass nowadays, it doesn't really matter. britoki (Brian T) 09-30-1999, 11:50 AM Sunroof - Piece of glass/plastic which tilts upward. hence used during the day when you don't want the sun beating down on your head. Moonroof - Piece of glass/plastic which slides back, exposing the open top. The interior cover is just an interior cover, it doesn't have anything to do with it being called a sunroof or moonroof. John Boyd 09-30-1999, 01:04 PM My friend said that a sunroof is one that slides outside the car (you see this on cheaper cars) while a moonroof is one that slides into the roof. I don't know if there's any truth to that. dB 09-30-1999, 01:26 PM mac 09-30-1999, 01:43 PM Reeggie 09-30-1999, 02:41 PM Then mfrs started offering sunroofs with option of plastic (ie BMW) pauls 09-30-1999, 04:09 PM Frank b. 10-01-1999, 12:46 PM I'm not sure it mean anything anymore. It use to be that a sunroof was solid, byt did open fully. a moonroof was clear, so at night you can have it closed and still see the moon. Frank b. |
