View Full Version : Anyone have a squeeky Arm Rest..? rmz 11-06-1998, 06:41 AM Hmm today my arm rest was squeeky.. anyone have this as well Hmmm.. maybe because of the cold morning?
Thanks! Joe N 11-06-1998, 07:13 AM Yep. Even had it replaced and it came back Cris 11-06-1998, 07:18 AM The squeek comes from the front end, like when you rest your arm on it, right??
Spray some WD40 or TriFlow on the plastic latch/hook where the top catches the bottom. Did that a month ago... the squeek hasn't come back yet (even when its 32 degrees out). *burr*
Cris
CraigE 11-06-1998, 07:19 AM Just stick something inside the slot that recieves the latch on the armrest. All I put in there was a peice of a napkin. All you need is something that will stop the latch from going in so far, but still far enough to latch. Completely solved my problem.
Later,
CraigE
1.8TQM '98
Randy Welch 11-06-1998, 07:41 AM I even took one of the suggestions earlier and just applied a little blistex to the top of the latch and it hasn't squeaked since.
The archives are a wonderful place!
-randy
rmz 11-06-1998, 10:49 AM NT CharlesC 11-07-1998, 09:50 AM Mine developed overnight this week. It seems the black bumpers that are under the bottom of the rest are too soft, allowing plastic latch to rub. I placed two small (1/16") clear rubber bumpers where the black bumpers hit. This tightened the latch and contact is now bumper to bumper. The rubber bumpers are the type that you might find on the inside of a kitchen cabinet door. Generally found at your local Home Center type store. Solved the problem. |
