DO NOT under ANY circumstances let a brand of sunscreen called "Shade" spill onto any of your interior vinyl surfaces.

Shade is an alcohol-based gel sunscreen with SPF 30 or so. Leaves a great non-greasy protection for your skin, but not an A4's interior.

The other day a not-quite-closed-all-the-way bottle of the stuff spilled a little onto the my center console, just under the handbrake. It sat there for maybe 3-5 minutes while I was driving on the freeway and didn't get a chance to clean it off until I exited.

When I wiped off the goop with a paper towel, I noticed little bits of gray material coming off on the towel!!!!

I guess the alcohol ate through the top finish layer of the vinyl, and now it looks horrible, like a permanent stain. At least it's only visible from the driver's side and not the passenger side so I won't be as embarrassed as I could be.

WAAAAAAAAH! I'm gonna have to try little bits of vinylex or some other vinyl cleaner to see if it can be repaired at all...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
