I am currently in the process of installing a remote starter/alarm on my 99.5 A4. I have searched, but did not come up with a single good answer.
The problem with the remote starter is that when it disables the factory alarm, the doors automatically unlock, leaving the car prone to ttheft while it is remotely running.

I need to be able to disarm the factory alarm and still leave the doors locked. Has anyone done this before? Is it Possible?
If not, than I may have a really nice remote starter/alarm combo for sale!

By the way, this is the remote starter that I am going to install, or sell:<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=3077200914&amp;category=14 934&amp;sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWA%3AIT&amp;rd=1">http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=3077200914&amp;category=14 934&amp;sspagename=STRK%

I don't have the info. here as to which ones they are, it's at home.
I'll get this info. later 2nite.
you should have a wire out of your remote start that will feed into the factory alarm/doors that will trigger this lock also.

I beleive the Lock wire is brown/gray, or red/brown.
The unlock wire is gray/white. Someone else suggested wiring a relay to the starter wire, so that the doors will lock again when the starter engages.

With the factory alarm armed, I can put the key in the ignition, and start the car. Alarm automatically shuts off and the doors unlock when the key is turned to the ON position.

I really don't want that to happen with the remote starter, unless I can find a wire that disarms only the alarm, without unlocking the doors.

If you do have any other info, it would be greatly appreciated.

You just need to bypass the ignition sense wire to the factory system. This still leaves the factory system armed. Works flawlessly on my 99.5
